Goodness, it has been a while. Hello and I hope you are well!
We are excited to welcome to the world our little boy Christopher who is the reason for the radio silence here. He is 6 weeks old and we think he is totally adorable.
Over the last few months we have been working on various projects around our home including his nursery room. We installed new skirting boards, chair rail and bedroom door and had this beautiful bespoke Florence Broadhurst wallpaper hung. Photos don't do the wallpaper justice I'm afraid. The metallic paper base picks up the morning light and it is such a joy to be in this space. The artwork, titled 'The Alchemist' is by Melbourne artist Carla Fletcher and the koala reminds me of a curled up newborn baby.
This room used to be the study and it was a very small room until we tore down a large and very old (and smelly) built-in wardrobe which opened up the space and gave us more room to play. We still have plans to sand and polish the floorboards and have an upholstered seat cover made for the window seat. Of course, Christopher will also leave his special mark on his room as he grows into it. We have mid-long term plans to either renovate our home and create a new, larger bedroom for Christopher or to move to a larger home for our growing family. Keeping this in mind I designed the room to be able to function as a home office again in the future and the finishes were selected to be versatile enough to convert to such a space when the time comes.
Some pieces you will recognise from Robbie's old bedroom. The chest of drawers doubles as a change table again and Robbie has 'lent' Christopher a couple of his toys. I'm on the hunt for a new lamp and some more special items to personalise his room. There's no hurry to 'complete' the room though. It works just fine for us as it is and for now I am spending my days enjoying time with my boys.
