I have learnt through the design course I am studying how important it is to allow a concept to develop... with time. This means the assignments can't be rushed.
I have also learnt that inspiration for a concept can be found anywhere and sometimes, in very random places. I have found instagr.am to be handy for collecting photos from the world around me and when I am stuck for ideas for a concept I refer back to these.
Here are a few images I have collected recently.
Taken in the, umm, bathroom at Madame Fling Flong in Newtown, Sydney. Love the vintage wallpaper on all walls and the mirror.
I would love to create a space with a cluster of copper lights like these lights spotted in a Bondi bar that look like bubbles suspended from the ceiling.
This is a rundown building now used as an open car park. The black and white graffiti on the wall is striking against the steel and concrete.
I am a little bit in love with this photograph in Inked magazine. The models' pale features contrast beautifully with her tattoos. The colour palette from this image reminds me of this Colour Burst post.
It should become mandatory to paint your door a bright colour. This one on the left is pretty fabulous.
Rather random I know but the colours here caught my attention.
Do you collect random images for 'inspiration'? Or do you use instagr.am in this way?
